When the news came out of the brain drain problem with Pag-asa weathermen and our geologists, we couldn't help compare our situation in the office. I've been with our Bank for 11 years. 12 by September 1. Through the years, I've seen the ingress and egress of good people, whom we've also lost to competitors due to the wide disparity of our benefits. As in.
You would think I'm crazy to be still there after all these years, and after all that has happened the past year, right? I 've stayed on because I love the work I'm doing, as well as I've established my position in the Bank. Moving to a new one would have to make me adjust to several things, which I don't need right now (especially since I'm centered on Busy Boy).
But patience does run out and I'm now seriously considering jumping ship. Especially since our new benefits came out which includes vesting for those who are resigning. Hooray! At least, I have something to take home with me to reflect those 12 years. However, compared to other banks, we're talking apples and oranges here. Totally no comparison.
I'm actually praying for courage here. I know its not easy to be job hunting at this day and age. Being 2 clicks away from the 4-0 doesn't help either. But I'm willing to take that chance. At least, I tried. In the meantime, I could increase my multiplier in my separation pay while I'm still connected.
