I was on a birthday leave yesterday. After Busy Boy’s training in Libis, we headed to Ortigas to pick up Dad for lunch at Seafood Island in Robinson’s Galleria.
The family loves eating at Seafood Island.. we all enjoy eating the boodle feasts and we try to stay away from meat as much as possible. Alas, my birthday lunch was ruined by an accident.
We ordered the Mt. Apo boodle feast and had the usual waiting time of 30minutes. When it finally came, as the waiters were putting on the table.. see that coconut filled with hot halaan soup? That tipped over and spewed soup on Dad!! As in!!
Aftermath is, with Dad smelling like eau de halaan and his polo eventually dried, he suffered a first degree burn on the tip of his left ear. His left sideburn kinda peeled a little too because his first reaction was to wipe off the liquid. On a side note, the waiter couldn’t leave his side and kept apologizing through the whole meal. I think he was worried we’d file a suit or make him lose his job. I really felt bad because if it wasn’t for my birthday, we wouldn’t be eating out. If we weren’t eating out, this mishap wouldn’t have happened. But, the sport that he is, Dad just shook it off. We got a free petroleum jelly and a discounted meal.
On hindsight, we’re glad it wasn’t Busy Boy who got burned.. as he was seated just beside Dad. Or there would have been hell to pay. Dad is just kinder or more understanding than me. Also, the meal was just as yummy, but with the burned ear and all…Dad was in no mood for a photo. And not even my mom could’ve mustered enough courage to ask for one.B
