Impromptu Dinner

Dad was late in picking Busy Boy up from school this afternoon.  One thing led to another and I was surprised in my office seat when Busy Boy suddenly tapped me. That was when he told me that Dad had already scheduled a dine out. On a school night?  Good thing the assignment notebook showed no tests nor homework due tomorrow.

So we went to wait for Dad. We decided to eat at Choi Garden along Annapolis St., which was right in front of Dad's office.  Remember Country Waffles?  That's where this ultra red chinese restaurant is located. It was dinner time hence the parking space in front is again full.

Inside however, there were still a few tables empty.  Its our first time to dine here and I was surprised that most of the tables were meant to accommodate large groups.  There are even private areas for even bigger groups with consumable packages.  Daddy didn't want to sit near the entrance so we sat in the middle. No wonder the outside of the restaurant looked red!  Red and black seats highlighted with yellow lights.

We decided against a hotpot order since it was just the 3 of us.  We ordered simple a la cart viands and yang chow rice. Dad recommended the salt and peppered spare ribs and a noodle dish and Busy Boy requested dimsum. All were yummy!

Good for 3?
It was great to bond with my boys although I kept thinking we had to get home soon. I thought the prices of the meals would be way off budget but it turns out, they had 2 sets.  A budget menu, slightly higher than Hap Chang's  and your kinda expensive menu.  But I guess, the only difference is in the portions of the order and variety to choose from.

Tea? That's rootbeer in a teacup

I didn't get a chance to picture outside since all I had was my cellphone. So I'm reposting OAP's picture of the facade.  It was very grand and very inviting.
Nice facade

We usually reserve our eat outs for special occasions but I'd take one anytime if its a chance to spend more time with my boys. :)  We missed out on studying since Busy Boy was too full and sleepy though but that will be an entirely different blog already :)
